Story About Us

Here at First Point Gun Dogs, you can find a complete German Shorthaired Pointer. Simply put, our dogs are not here to just hunt, nor are they simple family dog - our dogs are bred to be versatile hunting dogs for the whole family.

With the help of our daughter, Lexy, our dogs are raised inside our home, with full access to the property. We raise each of our dogs to be the perfect hunting companion, the best friend that never leaves your side, and the family dog that everyone can't get enough of.

Why "First Point Gun Dogs?"
We picked the name First Point Gun Dogs for a few reasons. First, we expect all of our dogs to have their first point while they are still in our care. Before you take home one of our puppies, they will be tested to ensure they have the hunt drive you expect in well rounded GSP. Secondly, we're a breeder that fully respects and supports first responders. Personally, we understand the importance of having a GSP waiting for us at home each day. The amount of stress that our GSPs relieve is an experience we would like to extend to all police officer, fire fighters, EMS, military personal and veterans.

Story About Copper

When we found Copper, I don't think we really knew what we were getting into. We've had hunting dogs before, but never a German Shorthaired Pointer. Copper made us realize that we were going to get a lot more exercise than we were used to. His first few years were very educational and we came to accept that this is the breed for us. He is a little bit of everything. He loves to swim, always wants to hunt critters, and is only comfortable if he is in a person's lap. We have had cuddly dogs in the past, but never felt as loved as when Copper snuggles in.  

Our Relationship with Desert Point Kennels - Randy and Kim Randall

From the first moment we stepped foot on Randy and Kim's property, I knew these people were going to become like family to us. Never before had I meet two people who could possible love dogs more than we do. Each dog would come the minute Randy called them, and he would give each and every one love. One minute Kim would have a puppy in her pocket, and the next she was dancing with her granddaughters. All of this on top of being the most knowledgeable people on GSP's that I have every met. Any question I had, Randy would have an answer ready, and then provide written material to back up where he got that information. The best part, they never change. I know that at any moment I could ask them a question, or ask them for help, and they would be there to help us with what we needed. Who could ask for better mentors than Randy and Kim Randall?
